SUPPORT THE EMBANKMENT PROJECT!
- I am a resident of Jersey City.
- Jersey City needs more open space and public parks.
- Subject to a final agreement with Jersey City and other parties:
- The current landowner will Transfer 5 Full Embankment Blocks and 2 additional parcels (over 5 acres of land) to Jersey City for the Creation of Trails, Open Space and other Community Amenities;
- Jersey City Embankment Associates, LLC (“JCEA”) will develop on Block 1, in compliance with City zoning, an apartment building with market rate and Affordable Housing (the “Embankment Project”), and provide for a 30-foot-wide Public Right-Of-Way/Linear Park through Block 1;
- JCEA will construct a Pedestrian Bridge between Blocks 1 and 2 and a Block 2 Community Park to be owned by City; and
- JCEA will rebuild the Roberto Clemente Baseball Field with Turf on 6th Street for the City.
- I believe the extensive community benefits to be delivered by JCEA justify a targeted PILOT and redevelopment area bonds (“PILOT/RAB”) for the Embankment Project.
- That’s why I fully support a PILOT/RAB for the Embankment Project and an amendment to Jersey City’s Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance (“IZO”) that provides for affordable housing relating to the conversion of hotel rooms to apartments (“IZO Amendment”).
- I understand that the City and other parties are working diligently to conclude a final agreement, which will enable, and is required for, the Embankment Project to move forward.
I URGE THE CITY COUNCIL TO:
1. VOTE IN FAVOR OF THE EMBANKMENT PROJECT AND ITS COMMUNITY BENEFITS!
2. VOTE IN FAVOR OF THE PILOT/RAB AND IZO AMENDMENT!
